Great Comfort!Aug 31, 2010 I've been wearing the Sketcher Shape-ups for about 4 months now, and I love them. They're like walking on soft cushions. I've also had problems with plantar fasciitis, and the cushioning and support are perfect. Although they seem to slow my walking pace some, I feel like I'm working harder to get there, and I definitely feel the difference, especially in my calves and shins. I also tend to pronate, and these shoes do make it easier to do so, but I figured that they were designed to make you work to achieve balance in an effort to strengthen core muscles. It seems to work for me at least! I'll definitely buy the shape-ups again.
Fantastic shoes that actually encourage me to get up and get out of the house!Aug 22, 2010 I've been toying with the idea of MBTs for a few years now but could never swallow the price point. After seeing commercials for Shape Ups, I recognized that these would be a much more viable purchase for a lot of people and took the "wait and see" approach to determine if they were something that garnered positive reviews. After stepping on the scale a couple of months ago, I decided I had waited long enough and bought my first pair here on Amazon.
I absolutely LOVE them! They have done an impressive job of toning my calves and reducing extra weight in my hips and thighs so that (in combination with a sensible diet) I have lost 11 lbs in 6 weeks. I am a chronic high heel wearing woman and it is a treat to put my feet in something that provides such good support. More than anything, they motivate me to put them on and go for a walk, because they are supremely comfortable. I walk from home to work and back again every week day and take 3-4 mile walks on weekends because I enjoy them so much. They do garner a curious look or two (and my late twenty-something friends mock me for my "granny" shoes) but they are sporty and fun to me! In fact, I am writing this review today as I am about to purchase a second Mary Jane style pair to mix it up a bit.
A few things to note: from my pair one shoe seems to be more "firm" than the other, not sure if this is a manufacturing issue but it wasn't impactful enough to warrant me sending them back. The laces are also the sort that tend to loosen easily so if you're looking for a tighter tie I recommend replacing them with something a little stronger (mine came with 2 sets but both are too slippery to stay in place). I started out wearing them for about 30 minutes a day the first week and smoothly transitioned to longer wear without discomfort. I wear either an 8 or an 8.5 in most shoes and got the 8.5 in these and they fit well. In addition to walking I also use them on the stair machine and the elliptical but I stop short of using them for a run as the heel-to-toe stride with these would make it easy to trip and hurt yourself.
most comfy shoes I ever hadAug 07, 2010 I have heel spur, and that is very painful to walk around on,so I ordered a pair of Skecher Shap-ups,I have used them a couple of weeks, and my foot just feels so much better.I even told my Mom and Dad to get Skechers.
Not the best...Jul 13, 2010 These shoes are very over priced and not very durable. If your a tall girl like me at 5'11 the last thing you want is to add another 2-3 inches... If anyone is interested in these shoes because they have a knee injury or have to stand a lot at work I recomend buying a pair of reasonable priced shoes and then putting doctor sholls inserts in them like I ended up doing. Oh and don't even consider running in these shoes you will brake your neck
Too Small and Toes NumbJul 10, 2010 The advertisement for these shoes said "true to size", so I ordered a size 5. I quit wearing them after about 2 weeks; I couldn't take the numbing in my toes any longer. A friend suggested the numbing was due to the shoes being too small. I ordered a size 5.5 and a size 6. The size 6 fit better, but the numbing continued. I've never had this problem w/other sneaker or athetic shoes. Also, I noticed that my feet pronated in these shoes. They're going back in the morning.
