3Great system, recommendedJul 17, 2006
By J. Funk "jfunk"
Overall, the set is pretty good. The poles are very lightweight (aluminum) and easy to adjust with three different heights. Also, it is very easy to set-up and the tension rings work well. The ground stakes are also heavy duty and hold the guy lines very well. My only complaint with the system is the net design. One of the bottom loops (the net has 4 loops on each side) broke the first time I set up the system and I had to sew it back together. Also, this type of net does not allow for a really tight net for good "play out of the net" although it's not bad. I am planning to buy a better net but the rest of the system is pretty high quality. And for the price, less than 130 dollars, you won't find another set that has these very nice lightweight aluminum poles and the easy set-up so I have to recommend it but you probably will want a better net even for recreational play. Since I bought this the price has dropped even lower so I would definitely recommend at the current price.

4Loads of Fun!Jul 26, 2007
By Avelina Ashley
In where I live, portable beach volleyball sets are practically non-existent here, unfortunate to say. Being an amateur at the game still, I was looking for something in the mid-range for durability and value for money.

With luck, I chanced upon the Park & Sun brand and got to know that it is one of the established and recognized brands in the market. Initially I had planned to purchase the Park & Sun Flex 1000 Tournament Series instead because it had such rave reviews and was in the same price range as the Spectrum series. However, it was not in stock and I was too anxious to start playing then to wait for a couple more weeks for stock to arrive. Hence, I purchased this Park & Sun TS-179 Spectrum 179 Volleyball Set instead.

The package arrived in OK condition, though I thought it could have been more professionally packed rather than in just a plain white shabby looking box. Nevertheless, what mattered was that the poles, net and other accessories came neatly packed. I've used it for a couple of weeks now and it has proved to be a sturdy set, strong enough to withstand many amateurish serves into the net and crashing bodies.

My only misgivings about this set are:

1. The guy-lines came with tension rings instead of handles as stated on the Amazon description.
2. The court boundary was a thin yellow nylon string that does not stand out clearly on the sand.

Other than that, I give this set two thumbs up and will definitely consider the Park & Sun brand again when I master my serves.

5Great net, great price.Sep 14, 2006
By R. Uhlmeyer
We ordered this net to just play in our backyard, and it is excellent. Very easy to set up with two people, and unlike other nets, this net is tight, which is a good thing. The poles are heavy-duty and hold up great. Also, the poles fold down and are very easy to store.

This is a great net system for any place... This is not a cheaply-made net at all.

4Great value!!!May 28, 2010
By Brya J. Summers "mtnbkr303"
I was in the middle of planning a BBQ and needed a volleyball set. I looked around at local sporting goods stores and was disappointented with the selection. The lower end sets had plastic poles and doubled as a badmitten set. I'm an intermediate player and the park where the BBQ was serious players are about. I would have been embarassed to have set up an inferior set. However, I need something that had both quality and value. With only a few days to the BBQ I found this set. I was familiar with the Park & Sun brand and was estatic to see this set was so inexpensive. I received the set in 2 days and am very pleased with the quality and ease of setup. If you are a weekend player and need set that is both affordable, quality, and not embarissing this is the set.

5Better than I thoughtMar 18, 2009

I'm an engineer, so I like to work with exactness, over engineered, and high standards. I think you will find this with this product. The one thing that impressed me the most was the poles. They where the exact height, easy to change the height, and sturdy. The net was acceptable, and the guying system could do with a way to shorten or lengthen them. In my system you have a length of nylon with two rings on each end of the nylon rope that attach to the spikes in the ground, and a hook halfway along the nylon rope which attaches to the pole.

The system went together in less than five minutes, and once up had a good tension on the net. I'm not sure how well this will work for sand, but turf it seemed to work well.

I'm very happy with the product, especially at the price. It does come in a white box that looks too small for it to fit in, but when I opened it I was happy with the construction. I would not be surprised if this lasts two or more seasons. I expect the upgrade version would be even sturdier, but for back yard "semi serious " play I think you will be happy, or for that practice next during the summer.
