For all of you who noticed this is not really a soccer ball... Congratulations!!! Very well observed! This is a footvolley ball (see youtube). It is widely and strictly used for the practice of this sport all over the world. Mikasa is the only brand to get it right and they have full monopoly over this sport when it comes to ball supply. The reason why it's waterproof is because it's played at the beach. It's also deflated to 6lbs at first and gradually increased to 8lbs as it gets worned. Better after a couple of months of usage.
If a soccer ball is what you want, this is not your ball

Reading the other reviews, a few of the people have stated that this ball is not really a soccer ball. I don't really know the exact definition of a soccer ball, so it is hard for me to agree or disagree. I will tell you its physical characteristics, and then you can decide for yourself. It is a seemless ball, the shell reminds me of a thick rubbery material. It is a very heavy and hard ball, seems a bit on the small side as well. The reason it is so heavy, is because it's shell. It is incredible for outdoors and is completely waterproof, and great for all surfaces. It's shell really feels like a 1/4 inch of pure rubber. It feels thick and heavy.
Overall i got very used to this ball. Despite its short comings, it has its advantages which is its shape is perfect, regardless of how many times i've kicked it. So why did i only give it a 3? Well, I'm not sure how long balls are supposed to last, but i purchased mine 1.5 years ago and i'm already forced to buy a new one. The first time i inflated the ball it stayed inflated for a very long time. However, over the last 2-3 weeks, it has gotten worse and worse, where now i'll inflate the ball and by the end of the day i'm forced to inflate it again. Something is definitely wrong and that's why i'm buying a different ball now. I do use my ball daily even if it is just to kick it against the couch, so i'm not sure if i've overused it or not. Its construction seems very tough, but it didn't last. It deflates daily. Not sure if this is just a defect or if all of them are like this.

Its a good soccer ball but its little heavy. The ball is water proof which is great for wet condition but bounce and swing of the ball is not tradition soccer ball like.

Best Soccer Ball Out There for You and IApr 24, 2007

This is one of the best if not the best soccer ball for those of us who do not play in professional sports arena. Forget Nike and Adidas, their soccer balls lose air and shape constantly and are made of poor quality synthetic materials. This soccer ball is the preferred choice for the hardcore soccer players in Flushing Meadow-Corona Park in Queens NY. Flushing is the Mecca of soccer in the NYC area. I have played there with people from all over the world; Brazil, Colombia, Peru, England, Ecuador, Argentina, Germany, Russia, Belgium, France... just to name a few.
This ball maintains its shape and its air. I pumped my ball the first time I got it and have had no need to pump air into it again. I have had the ball for over a year now and sometimes I do not play with it for weeks, and it never loses air.
Unlike Nike or Adidas' soccer balls which I have to pump week in and week out this ball is awesome... don't waste your money on any other ball.

I think that the ball meets international standards ..first time we played with it, was amazing. Kind of heavy but if you play with this ball you could play with any other as easy as it can be...When you shoot the ball it stays on course so if there's an off course shot it's because your foot....lol...
It always stays on course...mikasa products are awesome !!!!
