A solid band workout! Cathe has another hit on her hands!Mar 24, 2010
By The Mrs. This for me is the first DVD from Cardio STS that have purchased and I have to say that I love it! Travel Fit is a total body band workout that keeps the heart elevated while giving the best muscle conditioning exercise in under 1 hour (50 mins start to finish). Cathe is ever the professional in this DVD as always but I find in this workout she out does herself. Unlike other Cathe DVDs, which I have owned several dozen of, she gives modification tips in this workout. From what I can gather, she does the same in several other Cardio STS DVDs. Modifications include various positions and movement execution tips for those that are:
* "Not as advanced"/strong as Cathe and her Crew (that is the quote I heard twice in the DVD) * Tips for those with weak core muscles, low back issues, and neck issues (ab work)
Another bonus with this DVD is that it's easy on the knees. I've had 2 knee surgeries in the past year and I was fine. She also doesn't do overkill with squats and lunges which can happen with In-home Strength/Workout DVDs. She trains your backside very well which is another plus as many DVDs and instructors fail to address the backside (shoulders thru low back); thus leaving your back undertrained and weak with sloping and rounded shoulders. Oh not this DVD...OUCH! Triceps and the back are very well worked and I found several of the exercises to be new for me with regards to using a band. Thumbs Up for some creativity here! Cardio STS features instrumental music which is not common in her DVDs. However, the music was great and very upbeat. It definitely kept me going through the burn allowing me to concentrate on my form and pace. The "Cardio" aspect of this DVD comes from 2 things: Compound movements (upper and lower working at the same time) as well as 3-1 minute cardio bursts. The bursts are not balls to the wall, drop dead bursts, but just enough to get the heart rate back up there and to give the legs more conditioning as she thankfully limits the lunges and squats. if you include the 4-5 minute warm up, there is 7-8 minutes of actual cardio out of a 50 minute DVD.
This is a great DVD to not only travel with, but to help switch up the variety in your strength routine. This is a band workout unlike any other on the market and it's a definite keeper in my collection. I am an intermediate Exerciser trying to get myself back into the Advanced arena and found this to be solid, heart-pumping workout. If you are an avid Cathe user, you will find this to be a great light day or moderate workout. I would rate this Intermediate/Advanced as I could not complete all of the reps and do all of the non-modified poses. If you, like me, are trying to get back into the habit of using Cathe's Advanced productions on a regular basis OR if you're looking into segwaying into her more strenuous strength workous (Gym Styles and Muscle Max are great), this is a great way to prepare for such things. This DVD after only 1 use is now on my Favorite List! 6 hours post-workout and my abs, legs, shoulders, and back are REALLY feeling this! Much better than most strength DVDs I own currently including the Firm! That says a lot considering you only use 1 light weight band!!

Great travel workout!Jun 28, 2011

I only have just discovered Cathe Friedrich workouts and they are the best!!! I got one other dvd of hers...a strength workout that is absolutely fabulous!!!! So, I bought this one when I was going to be on a road trip. It is not as good as the other one, but it is still perfect for traveling! I bought the bands and so I can use the light, medium or heavy to get the best workout that I need... and no cumbersome weights to drag along!!! I have so many workout dvds and I think that she is the best so far!!! (way more fun and motivating than Jillian!) Try this!... but get all three bands so that the workout will be challenging for you. Use the light band for beginners and increase as your ability increases. I don't know that this would be challenging enough for an advanced exerciser... could be with the heavy band. I'm in great shape, but only intermediate-advanced.. but I use the medium band most of the time... so I'm not sure.

A tough and fun workout with just a band!Jun 27, 2010

This is another winner from Cathe's Shock Cardio series. An exercise band is all you need to do this total body workout. Exercise gloves are suggested to help you grip the band.
This is low impact, but intense and fun.
What I love about this workout:
**It's very time efficient. Cathe fills every minute with exercises and not a lot of talking. Even the warm-up is quick at four minutes. **moves flow quickly from one to another, so your heart rate stays elevated. **Cathe's form pointers are just enough to be good reminders and not annoying. **Exercises are designed so you really feel the burn. This is a true muscle endurance workout. The compound exercises are particularly effective. **Cardio blasts really get your heart rate up, but without high impact. **The 6 minute abdominal section is a nice finish to the workout. The ab exercises have a Pilates feel to them. **It is suitable for all levels. Even though Cathe doesn't give a lot of modifications, you can make this workout as tough or as easy as you want.
What was neutral about this workout:
**The music was okay. It kind of blended into the background, so it wasn't particularly motivating, nor was it particularly annoying. I was enjoying the workout so much; this wasn't really an issue for me. **Categorization of this routine as a travel workout. Yes, it's true you only need a band, which is easy to pack. But, it's good to have gloves, which is just one more thing to remember to pack. I wouldn't use this workout when I travel since I don't want to download it. I use this workout as total body circuit training when I want to mix things up.
I highly recommend this workout to anyone wanting a fun total body workout using only a band.

Very goodMay 12, 2010
By Joan of Arc Cathe has done it again. This is not as hardcore as most of her other work-outs but it is good exercise. It truely is a work-out that is easy to take with you and do anywhere. You can make it more intense (by jumping more and higher) or easier by just pushing off with your feet and such. Cathe is very enjoyable to exercise with - good with the cues and encouragement. The floor work ab part at the end is especially effective.

Creative band-resistance exercises...Aug 03, 2010

I have been looking for a good resistance band workout on the market, and came across this one. It seemed to garner many good reviews from other consumers, so I purchased it myself, as well as the Dyna-Bands used in the workout (many bands sold retail are far too short for the purposes of this workout; you do need a longer band, minimum 5.5 feet to do some of the moves). I don't really rely on the cardio portions of this workout, as they are pretty spare throughout the DVD, and are probably only included for "completeness" as an all-encompassing travel workout. However, the resistance exercises are challenging enough, and can be made more challenging by using a band with greater resistance; so, one can keep progressing in strength while doing the same moves featured on this DVD. I skip the abdominal and stretch sections at the end (as I prefer to do my own exercises for those series), but I complete about 38 minutes of the workout, which focuses heavily on upper body toning (which is what I primarily wanted a band workout to do). I usually will do this DVD before or after a heavier cardio workout, for the toning benefits and not so much for the cardio work. This is my first Cathe Friedrich workout DVD, and although she is professional in her demeanor and cues well, she seems a bit "contrived" and talks a bit mechanically, almost like a radio personality reading from a script. Still, she is a good exercise leader, as she does all the moves with her crew and you, and moves quickly between exercises while explaining and cuing what comes next. I'm satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to others looking for a non-weight-based toning workout.
