Good but a little 'billowy'?Jun 09, 2010

These are great shorts, not too short or revealing. The material is top quality. Drawstring good, form fitting liner is comfy (though I still wear underwear since the material is rather thin - but you don't have to). The best thing is that they sit in a comfortable above the knee position allowing free movement. I just wish the actual legs were thinner (I have the small), I feel like I am wearing a skirt sometimes!
Update:
I've been using the two pairs I bought for almost a year. Glad to see they are still holding up well. There is still that little extra room in the lower leg (almost like they slightly fan out). I understand the concept, but the extra material does kind of flow out a bit. I have a pair of Adidas Supernova that are more snug but stretchy so they actually fit a little better. The drawstrings began tugging around after repeated washing, one side ended up with over a foot of cord while the other had just a couple of inches. Tugging on either didn't seem to help. What I ended up doing was holding the waistband on the side with the long drawstring and pulling very strongly at the short side. It bunched the waistband up to almost nothing, but then I could adjust them back to some semblance of order. Other than that they have been very good and I will be buying another pair for this summer.

Yes, these shorts have a more relaxed fit than the New Balance Tempo, for example, but for me that is perfect. I have a 31-32" waist, but each of my thighs is about 25" at the widest point. I owned the 5" Tempos and even the size large (which was too big on the waist) constricted my range of motion. The Asics size medium is perfect because it fits on the waist and isn't too constricting in the thigh.
I can totally see how these would be "billowy" if you have skinny legs. If you have big thighs relative to your waist, I guarantee you will love how these shorts fit!
For me, these shorts are ideal for any type of training I am doing, and also are very comfortable to just wear around when it's hot outside. I normally avoid polyester because of breathability problems, but these shorts - especially the lining - are so lightweight that it's not a problem at all. They are more breathable than wearing light cotton underwear under light polyester shorts.
Another great feature of these shorts is that you can just shower in them and hang them up to dry. In a few hours at most, they will be dry. No point wasting a ton of water washing underwear and shorts in the washer all the time.
Overall, after trying just about every popular option, these are my favorite shorts. Period. I stole my first pair from my dad and they are just now starting to get noticeably worn, about 3 years of heavy use later (and I don't know how long he used them before me). Time to order some more!

I searched for inexpensive shorts with the hope to have a comfortable, no chaffing, reduced sweat running experience. I was using $5 cotton shorts so anything would be better. But these shorts have proven to be wonderful in all three areas. I am training for my first marathon and have worn these every run including my fist 20 miler. Absolute comfort. For me the perfect shorts.

First of all, At first when you look at the photo of this short it shows it's straight but it's actually baggy(It is more Obvious in black color). If you take a closer look at the photo, you'll see the man in the picture actually holding the leg area in the background so this short will look more attractive to the buyers. (I know i need to look at at measurement but i also need to look at photo to see how it's going to look). That's why he is holding his hand in the back of his leg(to hold the short to make it looks more slim). Second the quality is not as good as "new balance 5-inch short" When you wear New balance, it's feel as if you have no short on. It's very soft and nice and unlike this one, it has 3 pockets. I do not recommend this Short to anyone.. If this short is comfy, so is my pijama. Look for New balance 5-Inch Tempo Short, It is much better. You won't be disappointed.
Update Aug, 2010: It looks like, they changed the photo.
